eJournal was first created as an education innovation project at the University of Amsterdam in 2018. In our experience with various learning management systems at the time, portfolios felt unintuitive for both students and faculty. The main issue faced here was the general emphasis on summative feedback and assessment. This undermines the effectiveness of development and assessment portfolios, where intermediate feedback on progress is vital. Furthermore, it makes monitoring progress while students work on these assignments difficult.
Co-created in close collaboration with educators in our partner institutions, we continuously aim to facilitate the best possible learning experience for thousands of students that use our platform.
